Simple is Beautiful ~ Magnuson Park, Washington
I spend a lot of time daydreaming about possible photo session ideas. Sometimes there are small design elements that I want to incorporate into my shoots, other times I’m inspired by a color, flower (like my recent peony obsession that you can find HERE), or something I see while I’m out and about. While a lot of times I like to add pops of color into my session or fun props I’ve found, I often adore the simplicity of just a white background, un-patterned clothing, and a simple blanket or stuffed animal.
This is the simplest setup possible, but it’s so clean and crisp that you are instantly drawn to the person in the picture. You immediately notice her expression, and body language. There are no distractions. By adding her fuzzy Kiddo’s Blankie Blanket from Bunnies by the Bay that she loved, she had something to interact with and snuggle with, and she was instantly comfortable. These photos are definitely about her, and her personality. As kids have huge imaginations, she found ways to play with her blanket that as adults we couldn’t have orchestrated. She hid under it, played peekaboo, swung it around, snuggled with it, made it into a cape, and turned it into a flying carpet. Sometimes, all you need to create a timeless photo shoot is something simple to snuggle with.
