Mom & DadTOGS Meetup – Lincoln Park – Seattle, Washington
This Memorial Day the Mom & DadTOGs met up at Lincoln Park in West Seattle. If you haven’t been there, you should go! It’s a beautiful park with large meadows of flowers, evergreens, baseball fields, wading pools, and amazing beach views. Last year, the group did a whimsical fern crown shoot. This year we stuck to the north end of the park.
We started out at 10:00am, and the sun was already bright and high in the sky. The energy of the kids was electric! It was a holiday, and they had the day off of school! For this meet-up, we had a group of slightly older kids including three boys that had boundless energy.
We started out on one of the many trails, and captured some photos of the kids playing under some lush bushes and near some evergreens. The boys spent their time hunting for sticks, and talking about the campfires they wanted to make. The tall trees in this area shielded us from the bright bright sun for a time.
We then stumbled upon the most amazing patch of buttercups! Even though the sun was ridiculously bright in this area, it was just too pretty to pass up. Two of the little girls were wearing the perfect outfits for this spot. They held each others hands and picked buttercups for each other. It was pretty adorable!
After that, we decided to hit one more location before lunch. We ventured over to the baseball diamond, where the boys hit imaginary home runs, wrote their names in the sand, and ran the bases. The light was beautiful here, especially in the dugout. The harsh light that existed at the buttercups was muted, and the light became soft and even. The dugout was the perfect spot to try a new lens that I had just picked up from Glazers earlier in the week. If you’re curious, it was a prime Tamron 100mm lens. I think I’m in love!! The bokeh is amazing with this lens, and the images are tack sharp. I have a feeling that I’m going to be using this lens constantly! Since it felt like the stars has aligned, I had to grab a few quick photos of an adorable little girl with a cute fuzzy pink cat, from Bunnies By The Bay. I couldn’t resist!
After all the walking and running the kids did, it was time to get lunch. We had a wonderful time and I can’t wait until the next Mom & DadTOGs event! If you missed this one, don’t forget we have a lot more Mom & DadTOGs meet-ups lined up this summer. Here’s the upcoming lineup.
