Life in 52 – Week 12
For my week 12 installation of my Life in 52
photo project, I am excited to share the newest addition to Wild Hearts Farm. A vintage 1970 Prowler travel trainer.
Vintage Travel Trailer
Jodall (WHF owner) and I have been dreaming about adding a vintage travel trailer to Wild Hearts Farm for a very long time. Over the past few months, we have kept an eye out on OfferUp & FB marketplace. All our searches had turned up empty.
We also did a little old fashion door knocking. No one wanted to sell anything we wanted to buy. Here’s the thing. Lots of the places we stopped had LOTS of “stuff”. Junk really – eating up their entire yard. Sometime we would come across homes with 2-3 vintage trailers, rotting away in their yard. Most needed A LOT of work and were leaky and filled with junk. Those people NEVER wanted to sell a single thing. They all had really BIG plans for every last hunk-of-junk they owned.
Persistence prevailed!
In the end, a little old fashion door knocking did the trick. Jodall and I were out on one of treasure hunt drives. We had just been turned down for a beautiful arch Jodall has had her eye on for years. That was disappointing, she was ready to call it a day. However, I had a few more twist and turns in those Tacoma side streets left in me. And I was driving – so on we went!
As we took that last right turn we spotted in the distance our dream Prowler travel trailer. I mean dream. Windows around the front, shape, and style we had both been envisioning. Love at first sight!
But would they sell?
I think it’s important to note, there was something different about this property. It was clean and not full of junk. Clearly loved and cared for. We rolled past once real slow. The family was outside. We took a side street to get a back/side view peek of the trailer. Yep, it was THE ONE.
But could we build up the courage to ask? Every stop requires a little pep talk between Jodall and I. These people weren’t the junk collectors we had come accustomed to. Jodall typically does all the door knocking/talking. She’s better at it than me. However, this time she suggested I do the talking.
Me?
It seemed like a bad plan.
But we were there and now parked in their driveway. The entire family seemed to have disappeared and there was just one gentleman sitting on the porch. He looked mean and I was scared. As we approached him I said something along the lines of…
“Hello!… I’m going to need you to look away…while I hook that beautiful travel trailer up to my SUV and roll away”.
~We all laughed!!!~
He responded with something like…
“that old thing-my huntin’ cabin on wheels”.
The ice had been broken. He was the nicest guy- not mean AT ALL. Turns out he was planning to sell the vintage travel trailer this Spring. We were just a month early. He offered to get it in tip-top shape and deliver it to the farm himself & at a great price. The rest, as they say, is history!
Trailers First Shoot
Our first model was my sweet baby K. She isn’t crawling yet and stays where I put her for the most part. She was the perfect candidate for this promo shoot. I love that we got golden light complete with sun flare inside the vintage travel trailer for our promo shoot. Amazing!
I am excited about all the awesomeness the trailer will bring to Wild Hearts Farm. Looking forward the interior will serve as a warm and cozy home base for seasonally themed shoots. While the exterior will be all done up like a Christmas Tree lot this Fall/Winter.
So fun!
You can book your next Wild Hearts Farm shoot HERE. Just let me know when booking if you want to pop in the vintage travel trailer for a few frames so I can reserve it with Jodall.
