Three Forks Park
I love this Mom & Me family photo session at Three Forks Park SO much. The light, the laughter & the genuine connections, put it all together and that’s what makes being a child and family photographer such a treat. Somebody pinch me. This is my J.O.B. Unreal!
Snoqualmie, Washington
Three Forks Park in Snoqualmie is a photographer paradise. I had been looking for a North Bend /Snoqualmie location for years. Three forks park is such a neat little spot on the river. It offers flowing grass, sweat peas, the RIVER (of course) and endless evergreen trees. Paradise I tell you!
This particular afternoon was especially beautiful. The air was warm and welcoming. The grass was dry yet green and soft. The sweat peas were vibrant and inviting. The river was dare I say, warm. It really was the perfect pacific northwest afternoon. Looking back my favorite part of the day was the light. It was magical. More and more I find myself shooting directly into the sun. They don’t teach that in college photography classes, or at least they didn’t 15 years ago. (Did I really just type that). I love love love sun flare on my lens. You will soon see this family photo session was filled with flare!
I remember my pre-session phone conversation with this mama well. So many things she shared I related to instantly. Especially the parts about sister/mom dynamic. I have a twin sister and know what sisterly love can look like at times. For the record I was the good twin. These sisters and their Mama were an absolute treat to have in front of my lens. They jumped, twirled, splashed and played together as if I was there with them for a playdate in the river. I loved that!
All three of these ladies were right at home in the woods and near the water. There was no squirming over bugs, or fussing about a tree branch crossing our path. They loved it all. The most impressive part of their sister/mom dynamic was when the trail got steep, Mom put one daughter on her shoulder and carried the other daughter up and over the challenging parts. Amazing!
Summer has since come and gone. I love being able to look back on these images and remember what it all felt like. Freezing these moments in time for this awesome family is such a great memory. Next year they will be a wee bit bigger. Maybe they will no longer need the shoulder ride up and over the big hill. But this year they fit together like a glove. We have the photos to prove it!
