Mad River Canoe – Wild Hearts Farm
For week #5 of my Life in 52 project, I am excited to share yet another trip to Wild Hearts Farm. This trip was to photograph Wild Hearts Farm beautiful Winter/Spring Pond.
My BEST Buy Nothing find!
Approximately 4 years ago Buy Nothing Groups were popping up all over the web. My neighborhood group was a particularly busy place. People gifting and receiving all kinds of good stuff. About a week after joining the group this Mad River Canoe popped up for FREE. I commented instantly that I would love it for our family. A few hours later it was ours!
A Little Spring Cleaning
Upon arriving to pick up our new canoe- I met the nicest woman on a Spring cleaning mission. Her husband was out of town and she was deep cleaning the “shop” on his behalf. I remember thinking my husband would kill me if I ever did such a thing. She was also purging things they were no longer using. This beautiful Mad River Canoe was on her list. She was looking forward to gaining the yard space back.
The story is…. her husband had purchased the canoe when their children were young. This beauty had one fairly traumatic family vouge across the UW cut (on a busy boating weekend) and had been sitting for YEARS! The kids were now teenagers and it was time for the canoe to find a new family. We were that family!
I remember thinking as I went to bed that night, once her husband returned from his trip she just might want his canoe back. To my surprise that call never came!
Luckiest Mad River Canoe in the WORLD!
That’s the story of my free canoe. Which is know living out its days at the one and only Wild Hearts Farm in Tacoma, Washington. Which pretty much makes it the luckiest Mad River Canoe in the world!
